Here, have some random ass event content before Forest Dragon Nest Hardcore. Also spook news. PvP gets stuff!! WHOOO!!
Red Dragon Nest Nightmare Event
Red Dragon Nest is back and it's out for blood! Watch the fuck out because it's ready to rock your shit. All of the original bosses are back and are suited up to be even harder than before. If you played Red Dragon Nest Vahrcore, then be ready for even another step above that. Here's the TL;DR run down:
- Enemies HP and damage dealt are balanced for EXP5 cap gear
- Bosses mechanics and even basic attacks are enhanced with new and/or additional effects
- Modernization pass
- 0 manual revives; full party revive after every boss (basically the same as a time attack raid)
- 0 checkpoints
Event Duration
Patch v862 ~ Approximately Oct 31, 2024

- Paradox Fragment Echoes 10x
- Verdant Heart of Nature 2x (Crest reroller)

PvE Content
Again, cutting back on players whose entire existence on PDN is to farm gold and sell it for money. We don't want you here, we want players who actually play the game
- Forest Dragon Nest: Wakanu and Decius (Prof K and Balapa clones) now have indicators that match their original nest forms
- Intricate Valley gold drop reduced 1000g --> 700g
- Storm Manticore Nest and Reborn Apocalypse Nest gold drop reduced 3000g --> 2000g
[PvE] Class Balancing
/\c24\Lunar Knight
Increasing LK's damage differential between small and large bosses
[Awakened Moonfall] [S] key cast damage coefficient per hit increased: 7%--> 8%
[Awakened Moonlight Splitter]
- 3rd slash now sends out a sword wave that pierces enemies doing damage equal to one slash (click)
- Hits per swing changed: 3 --> 1 (total damage unchanged here)
[Class Mastery II] skill enhancement window increased: 2.1s --> 4s
PvP Content
Combo Practice
- The PvP SA/State display in PvP Combo Room now displays how long a player will be downed or paralyzed for (only for variable duration ones, the brief paralock/downlocks are frame data'd not timer based)
- Gave Combo Practice and Grid Arena proper PvP map previews
Lobby Controls
Because people can't seem to behave, we're giving players more options for avoiding dealing with people they don't like or those that act disruptively. Everyone should have the freedom to PvP with whoever they want to and not have to put up with unwelcome intrusions
- Players that have been blocked by the PvP lobby owner can no longer join those lobbies
- Additional lobby controls will be added in future patches (e.g. restrict to only Guildmates, only friends, request-to-join)
New Custom Map: Meadow Gate
Meadow Gate is a new map designed for 1v1 (although it is available in most PvP modes and team sizes up to 3v3). Its our first made-from-scratch map, with consistent wall, camera, and performance behaviors.
We hope you enjoy some nicer yet minimalist scenery while you beat the snot out of each other! Let us know if you enjoy this map and if we should make more.
PvP AI Bots
- All existing PvP AI Bot's skills have been adjusted to have an initial cooldown.
This means the Gladiator bot shouldn't immediately use Hacking Stance EX before your first skill is ready for example. - All existing Hard Difficulty PvP AI Bot's movement speed lowered except for the Gladiator AI bot.
This means that they shouldn be less in your face before your first skill is ready. - New AI PvP Bots!!!! (Kinda)
These bots aren't actually what they say they are! Face each one to find out what you'll actually be fighting!
Dev Note: I could only pick class names to choose from here... It wasn't free text...
Maybe in the future we'll make better AI PvP bots.
[PvP] Class Balancing
/\c58\Blade Dancer
Chakram Storm EX: Action Speed increase increased from 35% to 40%
Dev Note: There was an unintended consequence of the last hit not connecting on grounded opponents from last patch when the damage was nerfed. I don't know why/how this happened but this is the only way I could fix it.
/\c45\Arashi
Storm Center: Increased MP cost to 10k.
Cash Shop
Added the [Costume Weapon Skill Changer] to the F11 cash shop under the Usable tab, for PvPers to change their +1s. Can use QC or DNP to purchase
Wanderer Style Hair (Vandar) Added to Cash Shop
Butch Baseball Club Girl's Hair/Jacket/Hammer/Gauntlet added to cash shop.
Clicking on a gacha box in F11 cash shop now displays the contents of the box, the rates of individual items, and clicking on an item will preview it in the cash shop character preview
Systems
Gold Movement Tax
tl;dr too much gold RMT going on
Tax applied for trading/mailing/marketing gold and Vahrtite (all forms) increased from 0% --> 3%
This is a very small tax, but gold currently has no real means of draining out of the game economy when it is moved, which causes... problems. One of which being excessive gold selling, as there is no cost to doing business.
Note that this does not affect the movement of gold between your own characters on your account, only gold that is moved between accounts.
Misc
- Skills that are disabled due to a passive now show that (for the people that don't read their skills...)
- Crescent Cleave skill plates now also states Moonfall in its name
- The revive and exit dungeon banners now state that you can click on them
Bugfixes
- Fixed an issue where certain high-height skills would not hit in Treasure Nest boss 3 arena

- Fixed Mystic's Fast Forward lowering the cooldown of teammate's Fast Forward in PVP? Maybe?
Upcoming Events
Spooktacular
Hi everyone! October is around the corner and that means our annual Spooktacular event is coming! Just wanted to let you PvE frogs know that Spooktacular will be happening this year with some class changes once again! After a much needed break from last year I think I have the brain cells and willpower to do some class changes again this time around. I will also be having help from Vahr, Koshiro, Chris, and Cope so the load is lightened some.
I'm not sure if PvP will be receiving any changes this year. That'll be up to Roy and the rest of the PvP team!
If you're new to PDN within the last year or so let me fill you in. Spooktacular is an annual event where we "spice" up content/classes. It's a temporary event that tends to last around 1 week (might be more this time around). Normally it would start on the last week of October, but we're aiming for mid-late October this time around. This also comes with new time limited event cosmetics! If you're interested in some of the examples on class changes you can check this video for 2023's:
Reminder:
- NOT EVERY CLASS will get changes during Spooktacular's duration
- Those of us working on Spook DO NOT have time to work on every single class
- If your class did not receive any changes, sorry but please for the love of whatever you believe in, DO NOT complain about "dev bias" or anything of the sort. This event is inherently "dev bias'd" cause we will work on what we want to work on
- There are two types of "Spooks"
- Experimental: We may implement these changes permanently in the future. We're using the Spook event as a way to let people publicly "beta test" our changes
- For fun: Silly, troll, or otherwise non-serious changes to classes that are NOT planned for permanent implementation
We're trying to stay within the realms of normal DPS while making these changes so you won't be seeing like 20x your damage like previous Spooktaculars. This means that we (hopefully) won't be turning off drops in end game content during the event duration (we normally would because, uh duh, 20x dmg means you farm/clear faster) I'm looking forward to doing Spooktacular class changes again this year and I hope that you guys will enjoy it too.
